In a major development, TV actor Ashish Kapoor underwent a medical potency test following his alleged involvement and subsequent arrest in a rape case earlier this month. The actor underwent the test at AIIMS on Friday, the Delhi Police said on Saturday.

Notably, Kapoor, who was remanded to four-day police custody, was sent to 14-day judicial custody by the judge of Tiz Hazari Court on Saturday. The Delhi Police said, “This report will serve as key evidence against him in the alleged rape case.”

According to sources quoting FIR, “The victim was allegedly dragged by her hair following the gang rape. When she resisted, the accused persons reportedly struck her in the face. They also snatched one of her mobile phones, though she managed to contact the police using another.”

As per the reports, Kapoor and his associates misled the victim’s sister by claiming she had fallen down the stairs. They further threatened and blackmailed her. The victim has sustained bruises across her body.

After the incident, the victim, a 24-year-old woman, filed a case at Delhi’s Civil Lines police station, while the accused was at large for over three weeks, a senior officer said.

Kapoor was arrested in Pune for allegedly raping the survivor during a party at a house in the Civil Lines area on August 10.

The officer continued by saying, “The team had been looking for Kapoor; they had been looking for him. His movements were initially zeroed down to Goa; however, when the team arrived, he slipped away.”

“He was then tracked down to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday.”

“The matter came to light in the early hours of August 11 when the survivor alleged that Ashish assaulted her inside a washroom amidst a house party in the city in the second week of August,” Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said in a statement.

DCP Banthia said that the complainant was invited to a party hosted by Kapoor and his friends, where her drink was spiked with some narcotic substance.

According to the victim’s statement, after she consumed the drink, she lost her consciousness, was raped by a group of men, and was physically attacked by a woman.

“She further alleged that the entire incident was filmed by the group of men. They threatened to make the video clip viral online if she disclosed the matter to the police,” DCP said.

Officer Banthia, adding to his statement, said that the survivor, a Gurugram-based professional, initially alleged in her complaint that multiple men raped her, only to change the narrative later, accusing only Kapoor of raping her.

Further investigation into this case is ongoing by the team.
